Testimony of Missionary Bob Cook

The pastor and a member of the church went out on Thursday visitation. It is not always the one you visit that God speaks to, but those whom He chooses. I was visiting my neighbor when the men came to his house and were invited in. They presented the gospel to my neighbor and I. I listened, although I had heard it before. My neighbor refused to be saved. I certainly didn’t think that I should do something my neighbor wouldn’t do. The men left and I also left to walk home next door. Under great conviction of the Holy Spirit, I knelt down in front of my couch and called upon the Lord to come into my heart and save me. I was baptized and became active in the work of the Lord.

It was the death of a friend that brought Kathy to New York from Huntsville, Alabama. It was there, in the church, that we met, were married and our two sons were born. We felt that we wanted to raise our children in a Christian school. We moved to Alabama and found a church that we could be apart of and a Christian school for our children.

Later we began to attend Madison Baptist Church where we became active in serving the Lord. I enrolled in Bible School to study the Bible and learn more about the Scriptures. I did not know what God’s plans were at the time. It was toward the end of my studies that I had the opportunity to visit some missionaries we supported in West Africa. It was during this time that God worked in my heart to give my life to full time missions.

After completing Bible School Kathy and I surrendered to full time missionary work. Allowing the Lord to direct us, we accepted His call to Uganda, East Africa. We served the Lord for ten years planting churches and operating and working in a Bible Institute training nationals.

Through some physical difficulties of my wife, we had to leave Africa. The Lord directed us to Jamaica for approximately five years. In 2005 the Lord called us to start churches in America. The Lord led us to go to Bradford, PA and start Bradford Baptist Church. In 2008 the Lord led us to turn the work over to my associate pastor Daniel Mills. We soon realized why the Lord had called us to leave this exciting work. The Lord called us to go to Savannah Tennessee where we presently have started Faith Baptist Church and continue to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
